Defending Texas...

We accept that our president served in the Texas Air National Guard defending Texas from Mexican invasion, but what about our other elected leaders?

I was surprised to learn that neither Dick Cheney, Bill Frist, Karl Rove, Tom Delay, Trent Lott, Jeb Bush, or even Rush Limbaugh have ever served in the military. The new Hampshire Gazette has awarded those politicians the honorable title of "Chickenhawks".

R.I.P. General Motors...

The sound your heard late Tuesday evening was the last nail being hammered into the coffin of General Motors. Not only will they eliminate 25,000 jobs, but also continue to ignore the future of hybrid auto technology.

In the July 13, 2005 Wall Street Journal the head of Toyota stated their goal to focus on hybrid autos as "...a core technology." Toyota is investing 7 billion dollars this year into research and development (without going into debt).

Even the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is investing in hybrid technology as the military consumes as much gas as bullets these days. In the meantime, General Motors ignores the future of hybrid technology and is satisfied following the market, instead of leading it.

Lazy & Lucky Missouri...

According to AOLNEWS (the comic-book of news services) Missouri has the highest rate of slacking off on the job at 3 hours and 12 minutes per employee, per day. That's incredible. But, how about the raw information on unemployment levels?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor the state of Michigan is TIED with the state of Mississippi as having the worst unemployment rate in the nation at 7.1%(May,2005) The citizens of Missouri should be proud that although they seem to be a little on the lazy side, at least unlike Michigan and Mississippi they actually have a job.

Endangered Detroit...

CONGRATULATIONS to Detroit for making the National Trust for Historic Preservation "11 Most Endangered Places" List!

The National Trust actually states something that continues to elude our newspapers and evening news broadcasts, "a 'hit list' recently issued by the city calls for the demolition of more than 100 buildings in preparation for the 2006 Super Bowl." The Madison-Lenox Hotel was the most recent violation of historic preservation and the Statler Hotel is currently being destroyed as I type this message.

Their analysis is as clear as daylight, "...the ultimate threat is a series of institutional mindsets within Detroit's political and financial hierarchy." In otherwords, simple, selfish, greedy and corrupt.

TBCOC Endorses Hendrix for Mayor!

After a lengthy discussion (about 10 seconds) the staff of TBCOC have decided to officially endorse Mr. Freman Hendrix as the next mayor of the city of Detroit. Our staff believes that he is not only the most qualified for this challenging job, but also has a superb mustache.

Fish and Chips Rule...

I've just always liked fish and chips. It didn't take a terrorist bombing to make me a fan. Actually, it was how people in London responded to the attack that was the most impressive. They just went on with their lives the very next day.

You just can't stop every terrorist attack, and the attacks that are stopped, well, we'll never hear about them anyway due to security. It's how people react afterwards that makes the difference. Some terrific online photo sites:
