Vacation is Over...
I had a conversation with a good friend this evening. She supports the President and believes that he is doing a terrific job. When I asked her about the total failure to prepare, lack of communication, lack of National Guard, and lack of attention from the administration in the vital first few days her honest answer was, "he was probably busy at the time with other things..."
A more sarcastic reply would include: Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted.
Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

I kinda take offense to this in a way, because, yes, as the president, he SHOULD have been more prepared, but at the same time, how would YOU have handled a national disaster that formed in a matter of days? No one knew that a category 5 would hit the Gulf, and furthermore, the people LONG BEFORE this administration KNEW that the gulf (especially New Orleans) was unprepared for anything more than a category 3. Where's their blame? It has to be distributed to the administrations before this that knew - such as Clinton, Bush Sr, Reagan... so on and so forth. Or the governor, who has seemingly sat on her ass about that particular situation of not being prepared to handle anything over category 3. Yes, this is jumbled, but I'm tired, so forgive me. I just... there has to be more than one person, bi-partisanly, that takes the blame for this. It can't just be one man, because that's plain silly.
